The Research Group DEDiCA (HUM-742) was formally established in 2002, within the framework of the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI) of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Andalusia Government. The line of research that enabled its emergence was the attention to cultural differences and diversity in school from a didactic approach focused on the Andalusian region.
Currently, it is an interdisciplinary group of researchers from both national and international contexts (from Colombia, Puerto Rico and Brazil), with extensive experience in different areas of knowledge: Psychology, General Didactics, Special Didactics, Education, Music, Philology, and Law.
The research fields of DEDiCA research group have been consolidated and expanded to the following: a) Diversity at school, school life, citizenship, education, intercultural education, gender education, education through the arts, education for human rights ...; b) Psychology of music (musical performance anxiety, musical preferences, personality and musical tastes, etc.); c) Psychological research on children in risk contexts, immigrants, women ...; d) Positive Psychology and Emotional Intelligence (mindfulness, mediation, stress, attention, etc.); e) Academic Performance and psychological variables; f) Higher Education; g) Neuropsychology.
It also has extensive experience in organizing periodic scientific events such as the SIEMAI® (International Symposium Intercultural Education Music Arts) and Spring Meeting®. In 2011 published the journal DEDiCA. Journal of Education and Humanities.
Lastly, this research group is associated with the Spanish Association for the Psychology of Music and Music Performance (AEPMIM).
